Till so far we already learnt a lot about the culture in here. We found out that Ethiopian people are very proud on there country and they are strong people as they tell us. Directly we feel like home, because things are similar to other countries. After two nights in Addis Ababa (to found out culture and work on our study) we went by bus to Bahir Dar (10 hours drive). Ofcourse the bus had to stop so that I could vomit even though I had a sickness medicine.
We found out that granny's will take care of the children when there parents passed by because of aids. We saw a old woman (granny) on the street with a child at the breast. She was too old to give breastfeeding but a local man told us, that it's just something to keep them busy. During the busride the country side landscape made an impression on me. It's very poor and primitive. People have to walk long distance to get some water. On the busstop we gave children balloons. They were very happy with it.
Here in Bahir Dar there is a very nice lake nearby. Its a busy place with lots of tuktuks and palmtrees. Cosy to walk through it. Marianne is now on a boattrip and i'm doing some studywork. Tomorrow we're gonna have a look in a clinic where deliveries take place.
